An art installation with arc’teryx
NOTS handwriting is deeply rooted in the subversion of unorthodox materials, reimagining them in new and modern ways.
We're playful and curious, always eager to learn and incorporate a wide range of practices into our work. One topic we feel strongly about is the stigma surrounding “crafts” and how it's historically associated with women’s work.
A quote that inspired this piece is: “When women do it, it’s a craft. When men do it, it’s art.”
We had the pleasure of creating an art installation for Arc’teryx that uses a mix of reclaimed climbing rope alongside our traditional techniques and materials that we have transformed into something new and meaningful. The piece combines traditional embroidery techniques—cross-stitch, basketry, weaving, and knotting—to challenge boundaries between art and craft.
